X-Ray High-Voltage Cable: Introduction & Usage Guide

Today, we introduce the X-ray high-voltage cable. As a type of power cable, it is designed to transmit electricity between 1kV and 1000kV, and is widely used in power transmission and distribution systems. Specifically, in medium and large-sized X-ray machines, high-voltage cables serve as the key connection between high-voltage generators and X-ray tube heads.

Conductor Material Advantage

Due to the excellent electrical conductivity of copper conductors, copper-core power cables are increasingly adopted as the mainstay of power supply systems in more projects. In contrast, aluminum-core power cables are less applied, especially in higher-voltage power systems where copper-core cables are the preferred choice.

Structural Composition

From the inside out, the components of the high-voltage cable include: conductor, insulation layer, inner sheath, filler (armor), and outer insulation layer. It should be noted that armored high-voltage cables are mainly used for underground burial. They can resist high-strength ground compression and prevent damage from other external forces.

Structural Types & Functions

Based on the arrangement of central lines, the structure of high-voltage cables is divided into coaxial (concentric circle type) and non-coaxial (non-concentric circle type). The 90kV high-voltage cable functions to transmit the high voltage output by the high-voltage generator to the two poles of the X-ray tube, and deliver the filament heating voltage to the filament of the X-ray tube.

Usage Notes

  1. Prevent excessive bending: The bending radius should not be less than 5-8 times the cable diameter to avoid cracks.
  2. Maintain insulation performance: Keep the cable dry and clean at all times to avoid erosion by oil, moisture and harmful gases, which can lead to rubber aging.
