What Are the Key Functions of the Image Intensifier Output Screen?

An image intensifier is composed of a casing, an intensifier vacuum tube (including an input screen and an output screen), a high-voltage power supply module, and a high-voltage cable. It is used in conjunction with X-ray diagnostic equipment to enable X-ray imaging.
Among its components, the output screen functions to convert the enhanced electronic image into a visible light image. Its main structure comprises an output photoelectric layer and a glass layer. The glass layer is part of the intensifier tube shell and serves as the support for the output screen. The inner surface of the phosphor layer is coated with a layer of aluminum foil, forming the output photoelectric surface.
Traditionally, the output screen is flat, with its edge less sharp than the center—this is caused by the varying path lengths of photons. For the latest intensifier tubes, the output screen can also be spherical; its spherical surface is flattened using optical fibers, ensuring consistent sharpness between the edge and the center.
